Many of you may know that my Dad died on the 28th December 2013 at St Luke's Hospice in Plymouth. In many ways my Dad was one of the lucky ones. When he was moved to St Luke's at the beginning of December there were 12 beds available for the whole of Plymouth and Cornwall. Dad was cared for by a team of doctors, nurses and volunteers who provided unfailing constant care to him and support to myself, my mother and my sisters. He died in a room overlooking the moors and the sea and a city that he loved. My Dad was a great marathon runner. He started running marathons at the age of 47 and completed at least five full marathons. I would dearly love to give something back so I will be running the Plymouth Half Marathon on Sunday 27th April in memory of my Dad and in support of St Luke's and its great work.
